Calanthe Art Cafe in Malacca - Enjoy Malaysia 13 States' Coffees & Assam Pedas Fish!

Calanthe Art Cafe is conveniently located at the famous Jonker Street. It is situated off the lane of Famosa Chicken Rice restaurant. I highly recommend it as a rest stop whereby you can take a break from your shopping or enjoy a cup of Kopi after your chicken rice feast. It is a very interesting cafe to explore with your mates.

What makes Calanthe Art Cafe interesting?

13 States' Coffee

Assam Pedas, Coffee from Perak and Terengganu

Calanthe Art Cafe is famous for serving coffee from the 13 states of Malaysia. I was very shocked because this concept is very similar to the 13 Stages opened by local celebrity, Mark Lee, in Singapore. 13 Stages also serves coffee from 13 states! I could not hide my disappointment in 13 Stages because I had thought that it was an original concept. Now, I know that it is a borrowed concept. Nonetheless, I still have to give Mark the credit as I felt that his restaurant served better tasting coffee than Calanthe Art Cafe.

Menu
I felt that the Perak and Terrangganu Kopi had a weird aftertaste. I recommend Melaka Kopi if you want to be on the safe side. Click here for the online drinks menu. I also enjoyed the Hand Brewed coffee served cold.

Delicious Assam Pedas

Assam Pedas Fish RM16.80

Assam Pedas is a sour and spicy fish dish and very popular in Malacca. The recipe uses tamarind juice. The Claypot Assam Pedas Fish served by Calanthe Art Cafe was very delicious as the well-balanced sauce had a very satisfying kick to it.

Calanthe Laksa

The Calantha Laksa is supposed to be the cafe's Signature Dish. I always feel that having self-proclaimed Signature Dishes is a bad idea. It gets diners to be hyped up with unnecessary anticipation. To cut the long story short, I felt that the Calantha Laksa was very ordinary.

To be avoided as the chicken was very dry

Take a Cafe Tour

Calanthe Cafe is very quaint and diners can explore the grounds by taking a Cafe tour. There is a Souvenir shop selling T-shirts, cups, ornaments and also 13 States' Coffee in boxes.

Quirky Decor perfect for Instagram

I absolutely adore the quirky decor of Calanthe Art Cafe. It transported me to another world and for this reason, I recommend this cafe if you are checking out Jonker Street. It is perfect for chilling with your friends and taking beautiful pictures for keepsake.

Showcasing of Local Artists' Artwork

Whose living room is this?

Calanthe Art Cafe lives up to its name as it supports the artwork by local artists. Patrons can admire the beautiful paintings found everywhere in the cafe. The founders hoped that by showcasing the artwork, diners will be able to better understand and appreciate Malaysia.

  6. Purchase your espresso from a space free coffeehouse or craftsman espresso roaster that can check the simmering date. This is the best way to realize you are purchasing newly broiled espresso beans of connoisseur quality. Their standing is on the line so they take a stab at the best quality espresso newly cooked. 7. Nonetheless, remember that the promoting prerequisites of an eatery with an extraordinary area will quite often be short of what one with a helpless area. So it very well might merit rearranging your spending plan, and distributing more assets for area cost and less assets for publicizing. Ballina Restaurants
