Gyuu Yakiniku Grill - Good quality Wagyu Beef Buffet

Wagyu beef is renowned for its superior taste, tenderness and marbling. It naturally contains more Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, as well as monounsaturated fatty acids (the good fat) than other beef. Yakiniku Grill buffet serves three types of good quality beef, out of which, two are Wagyu. Our birthday boy enjoys beef and this place is highly recommended by him. Follow me on an educational post on beef. Other than the tantalising beef, I was in for a surprise!

Other than top quality beef, the next best thing was that I need not end up smelling like a pieced of grilled beef myself. The grill has vents at the side to suck all the smoke. Cool!

Beef, Pork Belly, Chawanmushi
After one round of meat, I was confused which beef is which so I chit chatted with the very friendly waiter in Singaporean accented Mandarin. With all the hoo ha about our Singlish, our Mandarin is also half bucket full. I still remembered how our Mandarin was snubbed by our hosts from China when we went on a working trip to Beijing. The waiter was very knowledgeable and I was impressed.

A5 Miyazaki Shin Shin (Wagyu)
"Miyazaki Beef is 100% purebred Japanese Wagyu from the Miyachiku co-op. The name of the breed of cow that is used by Miyachiku is Kuroge Washu, also known as "Japanese Black". It is one of four Wagyu breeds that exist today, Kuroge being the largest of the four cattle breeds."

AUS Grass-Fed Ribeye Steak (Wagyu)

"Australian Beef cattle are tailor-raised for the large variety of markets supplied (grainfed, grassfed, organic and breed specific [Wagyu or Angus])."

"What constitutes "high quality"? One key factor that has a tremendous bearing on the quality of the meat is whether or not the cattle was raised on pasture, opposed to a confined animal feeding operation (CAFO)."

USDA Prime Sirloin

"USDA Prime Sirloin is exquisitely marbled and hand trimmed to tender perfection. Only 5-6% of all beef can be labeled USDA Prime."

Smooth and infused with flavours

Let's start grilling! I am very impressed with their grills. The restaurant has no greasy smell because the grills have vents to suck in all the smoke at the side. Important tip - Do check with the waiter for the grilling instructions for all food items. They will teach you how to place, how many minutes on each side etc.

Asahi Beer to go with the Australia Grass-Fed Wagyu Beef

Aust Wagyu Beef cooked medium and cut into bite sized pieces

Australia Grass-Fed Wagyu Beef was my favourite of the night! The thickness was just right to taste the natural flavour and enjoy the juiciness of the meat.

A5 Miyazaki Shin Shin (Wagyu)

According to the waiter, we are supposed to grill this extremely thin slice of beef 2 seconds on each side. This is quite challenging as the meat would be stuck to the grill if you are not fast enough. This beef ranked second on my Meat of the Night because it was simply too thin and a tad too oily. If you are the type who fantasies about beef dripping with juice and oil, this is your answer.

Kurobuta Pork Rosa Steak

Perhaps we overcooked it - it was too dry. This was the only miss of the night.

Pork Belly

Since this is a Wagyu Beef buffet, saving stomach space is important but the pork belly is a must try. We had to grill this until it was crispy. It was delicious and reminded me of Bak Gua.

SURPRISE!

The lobster is a promotional item. We bought the live lobster for only a dollar! (Apologies to humans opposing the eating of live seafood)

The waiter told us that we needed to cook the meat facing the grill.

Sweet and fresh lobster meat

Scallops tasted odd to me as it reminded me of fish cake.

Shishamo

This was the most challenging to grill because the fish kept sticking onto the grill. We realised that we had done it the wrong way when the waiter corrected us. We were supposed to place it parallel to the length of the grill.

Marinated salmon

The grill was able to cook the mushrooms to perfection.

Zuchinni, Miso Soup and Satsuma Imo (Japanese Sweet Potato)

Must try - sooooooo sweet and fragrant

Goma (Black Sesame) and Matcha (Green Tea) Ice cream

We ordered both available flavours to try. The Matcha flavour was strong and milky. The Goma ice cream tasted sweet and salty at the same time. The ice cream was smooth and ended our food coma with a nice touch.

Being a female with a smaller stomach than my male counterparts, I am unable to stomach so much Wagyu Beef. I did not consume a lot but at the end of the night, I felt bloated. I should have drunk my hot green tea faithfully. Oh well, at least the beer was good.

The bill came up to S$432 for 4 pax. There is a CNY discount of 38% as we paid with OCBC credit card. The final bill was S$362.47 and this bill included the alcohol and tea ordered which are not part of the buffet.
