My affair with Sheng Jian Bao {pan fried bun) started in Shanghai - Xiao Yang Sheng Jian Bao, a popular chain selling pan fried dumplings with delicious soup in the bun.
Recently on Instagram, I saw a foodie post a photo of Sheng Jian Bao. My heart fluttered as memories of my Shanghai trip replayed in my mind (I still remember how my P6 teacher taught me how to write my composition.). Excited, I jioed (asked someone out) Duckie to Ding Te Le in Kovan to try their version of Sheng Jian Bao. Overall, the experience was enjoyable.

Why was Ding Te Le enjoyable?
JUICY Shanghai Sheng Jian Bao
There is something fascinating with hot liquid flowing out or shooting out of something! This is a warning. When I bit into one of the Sheng Jian Baos, the juice or hot soup shot out of the dumpling onto my body. Poor dress! Instead of cursing, I found it fascinating. Haha.

Authentic tasting Xiao Long Bao

Xiao Long Bao originated from Shanghai in China. When I was in Shanghai, I tried a few versions of Xiao Long Bao. I noticed that the skin was slightly thicker and had a chewy bite to it. Ding Te Le Xiao Long Bao reminded me of the authentic ones I ate in Shanghai. They were very juicy too.

Other than serving Sheng Jian Bao, Ding Te Le also serves a variety of dumplings and noodles. If you like Cong You Bing 葱油饼, you will like the Scallion Noodles.

I ordered this dish because it received good reviews from bloggers and I like to eat black fungus. Black fungus tastes great with chicken. You can check out my recipe
here. I will recommend this dish for Gluten lovers - e.g. mock char siew.

I really like the fact that the restaurant is decorated in cafe style. I can eat my Sheng Jian Bao and also have a good time relaxing with Duckie. Do note that Ding Te Le is closed in the afternoon.
