Burger & Lobster at Jewel Changi Airport - Original Combo, delicious lobsters!

Burger & Lobster is extremely famous in London. Many people were telling me that it was a Must Try when I went to London a few years ago. Now that it is in Singapore, I am very excited to replicate the London foodie experience. The story of Burger and Lobster began with four schoolmates on a rooftop in London, with the dream of perfecting one or two ingredients. The original location was at Mayfair. Given the fact that Burger & Lobster also has outlets in New York, Dubai, Bangkok, Kuwait, Genting Highlands, the dream has long transformed into a successful restaurant brand name.

Since it is named Burger & Lobster, I must try burgers and lobsters at Jewel Changi Airport haha. The best way is to go for the Original Combo. The Original Combo comes with 2 burgers, 1 lobster, 1 chips, 1 salad and 1 dessert at S$110! I assume it is meant for 2 pax. The lobsters and fries were excellent.

How to order like a Pro?

Option to upgrade combo to a Lobster Roll

I tried the Original Combo in London and I had fond memories of the delicious lobsters. I was very impressed with the Singapore outlet as it offers a S$15 top up to exchange one of the burgers for a lobster roll! Perfect! Therefore, the Original Combo at S$110+S$15, comes with 1 burger, 1 lobster roll, 1 lobster, 1 chips, 1 salad and 1 dessert!

Choose your Burger

There are three choices of burgers - The Mayfair, The Hot One and The Impossible. The Mayfair is the original recipe, using Nebraskan Beef and signature burger sauce. Whenever a menu states that the beef is from a certain origin, the quality of the beef is raised in my mind. According to this website, Nebraska has the top three beef cow countries in the U.S. 

The Hot One also has the Nebraskan Beef but it has a spicy mayo sauce. 

The Impossible brings good news to all vegans, vegetarians and people who want to save the planet - plant based meat patty from The Impossible. Side track: The planet is heating up because of agriculture. Each cow's fart of methane gas harms the environment beyond your imagination. 

I chose The Mayfair because I wanted to try the original recipe. I skipped The Impossible because I have already tried it at a food tasting event.

Choose how well you want your beef to be cooked.

I chose well done and I felt that it was a mistake. The beef patty was too dry. I should have gone for medium. The Brioche bun was perfect. Brioche is of a French origin, has a high egg and butter content, giving it a rich and tender crumb. It should taste light and slightly puffy. 

Another plus point to my meal was the fact that the staff had already cut the burger into halves for sharing. Thoughtful!

The Mayfair

Choose how you want your lobster to be cooked.

The lobster was served in halves and surprise, surprise, each half could be cooked differently! I absolutely love this idea! I chose steamed and grilled. 

Both halves were cooked perfectly. Some lobsters served at hotel buffets taste like tasteless rubber but not these ones! The Burger & Lobster lobster tasted sweet, fresh and the texture was perfect. I felt that the outlet at Jewel Changi Airport serves slightly better lobsters than the ones I ate in London.

Obviously, a lobster has two claws. My lobster had a big and small claw. I hope that yours will have two big claws. The meat from the bigger claw was very delicious! I was in lobster heaven. The lobster was also served with a butter sauce. The butter sauce was so delicious that I ordered another one which was chargeable. I was surprised it was chargeable but I didn't want to appear ngiao so I went along with it.

I definitely recommend the S$15 top up to exchange one of the burgers for a lobster roll. The amount of lobster meat was generous. The lobster roll was served with delicious chilled lobster meat tossed in a Japanese mayo in a toasted Brioche roll. 

I also tried the mushrooms, delicious but not mind-blowing. Time to try the desserts!

That day, the restaurant ran out of Tres Leches - vanilla sponged cake soaked in a trio of milk, topped with green tea whipped cream, roasted pistachios and raspberries. I had to choose between Mango Eaton Mess - freshly whipped vanilla cream, folded with mango puree, layered with meringue and freshly diced mango and Chocolate Jewels - dark chocolate spheres with salted caramel sauce

I chose Chocolate Jewels because it sounded very safe.

The Chocolate Jewels tasted exactly like its description - Indulgent dark chocolate. The Burger and Lobster Combo meal was a fun and delicious experience. It was also a heavy meal. Ending the meal with rich and dark chocolate made it even heavier. If I were to choose again, I would go for the Mango Eaton Mess. Those of you who have tried the Mango Eaton Mess, how was it?
